Description

"River Jewels"

by Artist Carolynn Ashley

Inspired by the natural beauty found along a riverbed, River Jewels celebrates the extraordinary colours and shapes of water-worn stones nestled among flowing water. Smooth rocks in warm shades of ochre, rust, amber, charcoal and soft grey contrast beautifully against the cool blue-green tones of the river.

Carolynn captures the movement of water as it winds around and over the stones, creating delicate currents, ripples and flashes of white. The combination of moving water and solid rock gives the painting a wonderful sense of both energy and tranquility.
